Aamras /Aamras puri recipe

Aamras or sweetened mango puree, is a popular side dish in Northern part of India where is it served along with poori/roti and also as a dessert.

Serves 3 to 4
  • 1 medium – Mango(ripped)(I have used Haden variety )
  • Pinches of cardamom powder
  • Pinch of Nutmeg powder (optional)
  • Sugar as needed

Preparation method:
  1. Wash and peel the mangoes, chop them in to big chunks.
  2. Transfer the chopped mangoes, sugar to taste, cardamom powder and nutmeg powder and puree it without adding any water.
  3. Transfer to a serving bowl, if you wish you may add a tsp of ghee on aamras for extra flavour before serving. Serve with poori or roti or you may eat as it is.

  • Mangoes should be ripped. Unripe mangoes does give the sweetness for the dish.
  • Adjust the sugar as per your sweetness.
