Corn mixture / Corn flakes mixture / Diwali special snacks with video

Simple yet yummy snacks deep fried snacks prepared with corn flakes and other spices. It is also quick snacks that takes very less time to prepare.


Ingredients:
Serves 3 to 4
  • 2 cups – Corn flakes
  • 4 to 5 tbsp - Roasted peanuts
  • 4 to 5 tbsp - Roasted bengal gram / Pottukadalai
  • 2 tbsp - Cashew nuts
  • 2 tbsp – Raisin / Kismis
  • 1/8 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1/8 tsp - Red chilli powder (or add as needed)
  • Pepper powder as needed(completely optional)
  • 1 or 2 no’s – Dry red chillies
  • 10 no’s - Fresh curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep frying

Preparation method:
  1. Heat oil in a pan, deep fry corn flakes until crispy and well fried, Keep it aside. Followed by roasted bengal gram/Pottukadalai, peanuts, cashew nuts, raisin,dry red chilies, and curry leaves, fry each separately until they are slightly brown.
  2. Drain the oil, when it is still warm, add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, pepper powder (optional) and finally add required salt, mix well gently.
  3. Allow them to cool and store in airtight container for up to 1 week or more. Best tea time snacks.


Notes:
  • Increase or decrease the red chilli powder as per your spice level.
  • Pepper powder is completely optional. If you like the pepper flavor in your mixture, then add it otherwise ok.
  • Do not burn roasted bengal gram, cashew nuts and peanuts by over frying it.
