In today’s post, I am focusing on kitchen organization videos instead of recipes. In this video, you will see how I organized spices in my small kitchen.

Spice rack:
I have 20 jars revolving spice tower with free spices. All spices and spice jars are filled and sealed for freshness. Spices include basil, marjoram, celery salt, basil, parsley, pizza seasonings, Italian seasonings, coriander, rosemary, oregano, fennel seeds and more. I kept it on my kitchen counter top for easy access. If you are not using any of the spices in the spice rack, then you may replace it with the spices you needed. Once the spices are done, you can reuse the spinning spice racks with art supplies also.

Spice boxes / Anjarai Petti:
I have 2 Ever silver spice boxes/ Anjarai Petti, one for seasoning items and the other one for masala powders. They are very convenient, easy to clean and time-saving too. In my language Tamil, it is called as "Anjarai Petti" which means 5 compartmented boxes. Nowadays, you can find 7 plus compartmented boxes in the market.

Seasonings items: Spice box 1
•It has 7 compartments, which is holding all the essential South Indian spices like mustard seeds, split black gram/ulunthu, jeera/cumin seeds, chana dal/ kadalai paruppu, fennel seeds, peppercorns, and methi seeds are needed to season the curry.

Masala powder: Spice box 2
•It also has 7 compartments ,which hold all the essential South Indian spice powders like turmeric powder, red chili powder, sambar powder, kuzhambu milagai thool, garam masala powder, coriander powder, and jeera powder are needed to spice up the curry.

Lazy Susan/ Rotating pans:
• In the beginning, I stored my biryani spices (like cinnamon, clove, cardamom, bay leaf, star anise) in small glass jars and arranged them on a DIY Lazy Susan tray (Took two baking pan, placed a few beads in between two pans). It was easy to grab stuff as it was rotating smoothly. But, I needed more space to add other spices. So, I tried to search for an organizer that satisfies my needs.

3 tier mesh step rack:
•I bought 3 tier mesh step rack and arranged the spices on it. It fitted well in my kitchen cabinets and also created enough room for other items.

Notes:
1. Whatever the spice organizers you want to purchase, first think about the space in your kitchen and then try to find out the best one that suits your needs.
  2. Try to avoid plastic products and use glass or ever silver jars. I am trying to do my best in replacing plastics with glass and ever silver jars in my kitchen.
  3. Anjarai Petti /spice box is one of the best spice organizers I had ever seen. It not only helped to save space in the kitchen but, also reduces the cooking time.
