Making delicious Tandoori Paneer Pizza at home! sounds awesome. I prepared pizza at home with paneer marinated in tandoori masala, onion, green pepper and tomato as topping, which was delicious and heavenly. Pizza crust was absolutely perfect and topping too was yummy, gave myself a pat on my back. Coming to the recipe, I had already posted homemade pizza dough recipe.

Homemade pizza dough:

Ingredients: Serves 4 to 5 / 2 medium pizzas
  •  2 cup – All purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup – Warm water ( or as needed)
  • 1 tsp – Active dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp – Sugar
  • 1 tsp – Salt
  • 1 tbsp – Olive oil (additional oil for greasing)

Preparation method:
  1. Take a large mixing bowl, combine the active yeast, sugar and warm water. Stir it around and let sit for 5 to10 minutes until the yeast is foamy and dissolved. This is called proofing the yeast. If the yeast doesn't dissolve, your yeast is dead. Start again with active yeast.
  2. Add all purpose flour, olive oil and salt, mix well until it comes together to form a dough. Knead until smooth and dough is no longer sticky for about 2 minutes.
  3. Grease dough ball with a tsp of olive oil and cover with a damp towel / plate. Let it sit in a warm place for 1 to 2 hours or until doubled in size. Punch the dough down to release the air and knead the dough for 2 minutes. Now dough is ready to make pizza.

Notes:
  • Don't use hot water for proofing the yeast or you will kill your yeast. It should be like lukewarm milk. If you are using instant yeast no need to proof it, add it along with water and just mix it.
  • But if you are using active dry yeast then you need to proof it and then add. If you are using the dough right away, then go ahead. If not then cover the dough with cling wrap and refrigerate it until use.
  • Depending on your type of yeast, your dough will have doubled in size in about 1 to 2 hours. I use Fleischmann’s active dry yeast ( 8 gram packet) and my dough took 1 hour and 15 minutes to double. I kept my dough in oven with light ON it. It worked perfectly well for me. You may add 1 or 2 tbsp extra water for making dough, if you think it is not enough.

Tandoori Paneer Pizza:
Ingredients: Yields 2 medium pizza or serve 4 to 5
  • Pizza dough (refer the recipe above)
  • Tomato sauce or pizza sauce as needed (store bought)
  • 2 tbsp – Olive oil
For toppings:
  • 1/2 cup – Tomato chopped
  • 1/2 cup – Onion chopped
  • 1/2 cup – Capsicum chopped
  •  1 cup - Paneer(marinate with tandoori masala and yogurt)
  • 1 no - Green chilies chopped
  • 1 tsp - Ginger chopped
  • 1 to 2 tbsp - Coriander leaves
  •  Pizza seasonings as needed Mozzarella cheese as needed (approximately 1 1/2 cup grated)
  • Salt and pepper powder as needed

Preparation method:
  1. Preheat the oven to 400 F / 200 C, grease the baking pan or pizza pan with olive oil and then dust it with all purpose flour. Keep it ready.
  2. Take prepared pizza dough and knead it nicely. Divide the dough into two medium sized balls ( I made 2 medium sized pizzas from this dough). you can use the whole dough to make a large pizza or even make three small pizzas.
  3. Using rolling pin, flatten the pizza dough into disk of 1/4 inch thickness. Transfer rolled dough to the dusted pizza pan, press with hands and just create a border all the way around the pizza as shown in the picture. Poke the dough with fork and brush with olive oil all over pizza dough.
  4.  Spoon enough tomato sauce or pizza sauce( about 2 to 3 tbsp) and top it with chopped onion, capsicum, tomato, paneer, green chilies, ginger and coriander leaves.if you wish you can sprinkle little Italian seasonings on top. Finally sprinkle mozzarella cheese as needed.
  5. Preheat oven for 400 F or 200 C, place prepared pizza in the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly. Now turn the oven to broiler mode and broil it for just 2 minutes for a more crispy and nice top. Now repeat the same process for the second pizza. Enjoy the hot hot pizza with your family.

Notes:
  • Before you put your pizza in the oven, spray the pan with a bit of olive oil, for a crisper end result. It also prevents it from sticking to the pan.
  • For a more nice crisp top, broil the top of your pizza . Remember, keep an eye on it! Keep it in the broiler for about two minutes. This process will make a nice golden top.
  • Always keep an eye on your pizza, so it doesn't burn.
  • You may always choose desired toppings on the pizza.
  • If the dough becomes very sticky add some more flour and also if the dough is not soft and a bit dry, then add some warm water.
  • You may either make thick or thin crust as per your wish. I prepared slightly thick crust for first most pizza and remaining with thin crust. I preferred thin crust rather than thick crust.
  • You may use Ragu pizza sauce as i did or else you may prepare your own tomato sauce
